It has been an insane few weeks. I am in the midst of my period of solo-teaching, meaning that I do all the planning, all of the teaching (with no support from my mentor in the classroom), and most of the grading. Holy cow, lesson planning is so time-consuming. I usually spend about 6-7 hours planning ONE ninety minute lesson. Luckily I only have to plan two of these lessons a week (due to our block schedule) and a quiz day, but that is still about 15 hours of planning... not to mention all of the last minute adjustments when lessons don't go as planned, setting up the classroom for each day's lesson, making copies on our crazy-tempramental copy machine (or going to Kinko's when it's on the blink.... ha, see previous post), etc etc. I love full-time teaching because the days go so quickly and I feel much more involved BUT I feel like I have barely had time to breathe by the end of the day.
I also somehow became the assistant girl's basketball coach. WOOwee we have a LOT of work to do with those girls. Our first game is Nov. 6th and the other coach will be out of town so it's just me and the girls. I told them we are having practice on Saturday this week, ha. We need about a month or two of straight up drills (and learning the rules!!!) before we would be ready to play. But alas, two weeks it is. I fully expect to see all of you there... Dad, ahem. If you can go to CBHS game you can certainly support the Falcons as well!!
Well... lesson plans are calling my name. Let me know if any of you would like to donate some lesson plans. Or basketball expertise. Or just take my place for a few days so I can sleep and get a full body massage. And rest my aching brain.
