I'm baaaaack....

Wow, it's been a long and busy two months!

For those of you family/far-away friends who may somehow remember that this blog exists and want an update on the summer,

I closed on a house about two weeks ago and renovations are in full swing. I am hoping to move in within 6 weeks, hopefully even a bit sooner.
I will be teaching 8th grade math at the same school I did my internship last year.
And I have a new member of my family-- Griffin the dog. I would post a picture but they're on my phone and I am not that technologically capable. He is large and brown and quite cunning (in good and bad ways) and has the most soulful eyes I have ever seen on a four legged creature.

Hopefully I will not only do a better job of keeping you updated with the going-ons of a first year teacher, but I also want to return to this blog's roots of "rainstorm brainstorms," my goofy name for the wisdom of God that I pray Him to reveal to me. I want this to be a record for myself and for you, of how the Lord is using MTR, teaching, friendships, church, and living in the Bury to grow me in faith and wisdom.

On that note-- please, if you are so inclined, pray for Memphis City Schools as the school year begins tomorrow. Things are... less than ideal... in a million ways that I will not even begin to enumerate. Pray that God would move powerfully in the hearts of our leaders, that their hearts would be turned towards the children rather than towards their own interests or reputations. Pray that the city council & the school board can come to an agreement that benefits our students. Pray for teachers who are beginning the year under this uncertainty and in budget-squeezed buildings with budget-trimmed faculties. Pray that God would redeem this broken, crumbled institution and make it an instrument of his glory.
