Unfortunately, 7th graders are usually neither funny (though they try) nor touching... and if ever such moments occur, I am too pooped to record them later for your reading pleasure.
Until today. I have a good one.
If you know me well, you have probably noticed that I flush easily, and I turn red for a variety of reasons-- heat, exertion, nerves, embarrassment, illness, etc. I just get really red, really easily.
Yesterday I had to go talk to one of our office employees at school who is a little intimidating, and I guess I flushed a little from working up the nerve to talk to her. As I walked back out into the hall after the conversation, two of my males students walked by. The following conversation ensued (nicknames used, don't worry):
Ty: Ms. Svoboda, ARE YOU OK?!?
Me: .............. yes?
Ty: Because Ms. Svoboda, you are SO RED. What is wrong with you??
Me: .....................
Mike: TY! Why you checkin' her?? [note to the reader unfamiliar with such a term: "check" means "insult"... sort of]
Ty: Man I'm not checkin' her! I was just asking what's wrong with her face!!!
Mike: DUDE. You asked "Why are you so red?" That's like asking "Ty, why are you SO BLACK???"
bah dum duh
