"The Flood"

Although it has been raining quite frequently here, we haven't seen
anything like the monsoon that came down on a recent morning. It
poured buckets all morning long, but even once the rain quit, we noticed a rumbling sound in
the near distance. We headed to the (formerly) dry riverbed to investigate,
and indeed, there was an actual river running through!
And not just running, but raging. There is a steep drop on one side of the road
that runs across the riverbed, and there was quite a waterfall at that point.
It reminded me of the time that a car caught on fire in Binghamton,
and the whole neighborhood turned out to watch-- there were hundreds
of people just standing around watching the water rush by. Lots of
town camaraderie as we ran into friends & neighbors.
