The power goes out quite frequently here. Every time it does, Dasia
dances around the house yelling, "Power's out! Power's out! Hey guys,
the power's out!" As if we don't all notice that we were suddenly
plunged into utter darkness and stifling silence without the fans.
This country runs on hydroelectric power, which makes sense, since,
you know, most of the country is DESERT and all. There was supposed to
be some sort of new dam built soon, but it collapsed a few months ago
and there doesn't seem to be much of a move to fix it immediately. So
for now, we play games by lantern light, eat candlelit dinners, and
try to figure out the "schedule" to the power cuts. Thus far we seem
to be working on an every-other-day for 8-12 hours timeframe.
But don't worry. We have a generator that we use sparingly, and we
most definitely used it last night to watch American Idol.
